SMAA Art School Policies

Class Cancellations Due to Weather
Classes may be canceled due to bad weather. In the event inclement weather, students should phone the instructor. When possible, classes will be rescheduled by the instructor.

Dismissal Policy
If a student's or visitor's behavior is deemed to be rude, disruptive, or inappropriate, the instructor maintains the right to dismiss the person from the class with a warning. Students suspected of any form of substance abuse, including but not limited to drugs or alcohol, will be removed from the premises, given a warning and not be allowed to return prior to an interview and approval by the Board. In the event of subsequent behavior problems or suspicion of substance abuse, they will be dismissed from the SMAA without benefit of class refund or access to further programming.

Class Cancellations
We encourage students to sign up early. Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. In the event a class is canceled, full refunds will be issued.

Refunds
A $20 registration fee is withheld from all refunds. An additional $20 is withheld after the first day of class. No refunds are given the day of the second class. Refunds for classes meeting six weeks or less will only be given the day after the first class meeting. Refund requests for one- or two-day workshops and visiting artist workshops may be made up to one week before the workshop begins or as stated. An additional workshop registration fee may be withheld if noted in the class schedule. A $25 returned check fee will be charged by the SMAA. These policies are strictly enforced.

Minors
I consent to allow my minor child to participate in all activities associated with the Southwest Michigan Artists’ Association (SMAA) sponsored art classes held at 111 S. Kalamazoo Ave. Paw Paw Michigan, and to allow my child to appear in photographs of art class activities to be used by the SMAA in media both printed and electronic. I acknowledge that my child is healthy and able to complete this class. I further agree that the SMAA and staff will be held harmless of any liability should an accident occur during activities related to art camp.

Kids should wear old clothing or a protective smock or apron, art can be messy!
